Soft Talc-Free Formulas

Cosmetic Specialties, Inc. offers both a sericite mica with a “matte” appearance as well as a muscovite mica with a slightly pearlescent appearance. Although not soft or as white as talc in appearance, sericite mica most resembles the mineral talc and is the usual choice as a talc replacement in talc-free formulations.

Pearlescent muscovite mica has a distinctive pearl appearance to the naked eye. It is usually used in combination with talc in eye shadows, blushes, and foundations.
